The True Southern Gentleman

Welcome to the wonderful world of the Southern Gentleman. It’s a pleasure to have you stop in.

Due to the vast amount of cultural stereotypes that have been foisted upon my kind, I see it as my brave duty to pick up the mantle of such fine Southern columnists such as Lewis Grizzard, Ludlow Porch, Celestine Sibley and the late Furman Bisher and continute a tradition of written excellence. Southerners have long been known for their humorous take on the events of the day, and with the passing of George Carlin recently, we seem to be short an observational humorist.

Therefore, into the breech go I. I hope that you’ll join me – in Southern, that phrase would be pronounced, “jine me” – as I explore the rich and exotic region known as the American South. Be sure to visit the vocabulary page each week to add some new and lovely phrases to your vocabulary.

And contrary to popular opinion, I like Yankees just fine. Consider this an open invitation to read this blog and learn a little bit. If y’all are going to (Southern = gunna) stay down here, you might as well learn to act decent. I look forward to being your guide.

And please – y’all come back now, y’heah?
